Agrippa: Avoid, Thrust, Repeat
INSTRUCTORS: Gary Chelak

ROOM: TBA
DESCRIPTION:

An Introduction to Camillo Agrippa's Trattato Di Scienzia d’Arme, con un Dialogo di Filosofia

In reaction to the method of the early 1500's, architect and mathematician Camillo Agrippa set to print an elegant and unusual system of swordplay. Visually different yet entirely practical, Agrippa's system utilizes a keen use of tempo and avoidance to defeat his adversary. This will be our focus.

While this is primarily a hands-on class, the presentation will include pedagogical information regarding the structure of Agrippa's text, and the geometric figures present in so many of the accompanying illustrations. Those also attending the Marozzo classes will find this system an interesting contrast.

We will be making cuts & thrusts against each other - please bring a single-hand practice sword suitable for training, gloves, 12k mask, protection for the upper torso/arms, notepad & pen/pencil.
