This introductory class on the use of the short spear will focus on the basic Guards and the principle plays of the spear as shown in Italian sources attributed to Fiore Dei Liberi.

The spear play is an excellent vehicle to gain clear understanding of defence against the point in the combative system recorded by Fiore.

No experience is necessary for this class.

Participants must have a fencing mask. A 6 foot dowel is all that is required. Although to enhance safety a rubber "crutch tip" or the excellent rubber spear points available through Revival Martial Arts are recommended. I will bring several spear trainers with me, but participants should endeavor to furnish their own.
