I.33 Tactics: Fighting from the Overbind

DESCRIPTION:
 
Royal Armouries Manuscript I.33’s combat system focuses on control of the adversary’s weapon through use of the overbind.  We will examine the essential qualities of binding or controlling the adversary’s swords, the technical means to achieve this, and the tactics and strategies for bringing the fight to this end.  The class will use techniques from all custodie and obsessiones (guards and counterguards) of the system.
Equipment:
Fencing Mask and Gloves; Steel, Aluminum or Wood Arming Sword; Steel, Leather or Wood Buckler.
