Sponsored by Detroit Metro Airport Westin Hotel
Newpaper vs. Screwdriver
INSTRUCTORS: Stefan Dieke

ROOM: TBA
DESCRIPTION:

One of the problem of Historical Fencing as a Martial Art is that techniques hardly translate into modern self defense. Either you're not attacked with a sword and if you are, you most likely left your sword at home.
But attacks with modern screwdriver or icepick are as similar to medieval rondel dagger techniques as the defensive capabilities of a rolled up newspaper are. Thus we will apply old dagger fighting techniques to fend of stabbing attacks with a newspaper.
Of course you're also welcome to the class if you want to learn how medieval dagger techniques like "the shield", follow ups and counters work.

Required equipment: fencing mask, wooden dagger simulator or dowel, a copy of USA Today, or spare newspaper or magazine.
