Structure, Leverage and Power Generation in Fiore's Art: Flowing Between the Weapon and Grappling
INSTRUCTOR: Bob Charron

ROOM: TBA
DESCRIPTION:
This class will work specifically on one of the most difficult parts of combat with medieval weapons - the transition between weapon distance and grappling - using exemplars from Fiore's art. While it would be helpful for the student to be acquainted with the material from the two sister classes to this one, this class can be taken as a stand-alone class. The student will learn when the transition is appropriate, how to make the transition safely and effectively, and how to employ the weapon and the body both in that transition and to end the fight. Counter-techniques will also be included. The student should leave the class with a greater degree of comfort and understanding for future practice of this transitional phase of the fight, and more fully
understand the difference between and the transition from zogho largo to zogho stretto.

Students should bring a pen and pad to take notes, bring a training longsword, wear lose fitting clothing and be prepared to fall gently to the ground. Safety is paramount, and all drills will be done under direction, slowly and with complete focus on your partner's safety.
