In this
class the offensive and defensive considerations of
entering and participating in a combative encounter
with rapiers will be closely scrutinized. Since
fencing cannot occur while out of measure,
specifically the method of finding the correct
distance and the preparation of the offensive with
ones own security foremost in mind is the main focus
of this workshop. In order for the participants to
get a clear understanding we will closely examine
what three masters of the 17th century
have set forth in their treatises. Time permitting
we will also bring the dagger into play.
Equipment
requirements:
Participants must come prepared with jackets, masks,
groin protectors for men, breast protection for
women, gloves for both hands, rapiers and daggers.
