DESCRIPTION:
(suited for Medium and Advanced
martial artist)
Some people will endeavor in playing
with medieval longswords in a sparring session and others tend
to just stick to performing techniques with a partners. I
believe you need both to be complete.
The problem is that techniques
always look cool when executed slowly in a gym. Mostly they seem
to work and even make sense, but strangely enough when we get
into sparring adventure, somehow all that is learned
miraculously goes out the window and we become blinded,
barbarian numbskulls hitting away at each other. Why the hell do
we do that ?
This class will talk about psychology: fear in combination with
the pricipals ‘Vor’, ‘Nach’ and ‘Indes’ before looking at what
to do and what not to do in order to maintain your ‘cool’.
And then the practical side: How to
get safely into the swordfight and how the use the basic
principals of Liechtenauer.
The use again of ‘Vor’, ‘Nach’ and
‘Indes’ in combination with ‘fühlen’ ‘feeling’ the pressure on
your blade.
This material would normally require
several hours to comprehend, but this fast paced class will
endevor to do this workshop in 1.5 hour none the less. It will
be somewhat demanding and will require some skills with the
longsword to be in this class.
