INSTRUCTORS: Maestro Ramón Martínez & Maestro Jeannette Acosta-Martínez
DESCRIPTION:

Throughout history various schools, systems and methods for wielding the sabre in its various incarnations have existed. From the battlefield to the dueling ground, the sabre has been one of the most formidable weapons in history.

This workshop will focus on the common aspects of many sabre systems and on the most direct methods and techniques that will allow the participants to better comprehend the nature of the weapon.  This class is not intended to be a technical class but rather to examine the key concepts and principles that govern the use of this weapon.

Equipment requirements:

Participants must come prepared with jackets, masks, groin protectors for men, breast protection for women, gloves for both hands, elbow protectors, manchettes and protection for the lead leg and knee.  Heavy sabres of the Hutton variety are preferred, Pecoraro sabres are acceptable.  Do not bring sport sabres as the lightness of the weapon will not allow the participant to fully appreciate the nature of the weapon.
