Science vs. Nature (or
how a scientific fencer may apply his skill and cunning
against the naturist or anarchist of the science)
Following in the
footsteps of previous ISMAC classes, such as ‘Freak’n
Crazy’ and ‘Remembering the Fencing in Historical
Fencing’, this class will further delve into the science
which supports the art of defense, taking great care to
emphasize the core concepts of measure, time, proportion
and angulation; without which no fencing can occur
safely.
After exploring the
proper application of the above mentioned concepts and
how the knife, rapier/small-sword and longsword ideally
are manipulated according to science, students will be
forced to rigorously defend themselves, armed with only
the tools of science, against the anarchist or person
who willfully breaks all rules of reason only to make a
touch during an assault.
